Beginning in Kuching, the capital of the Malaysian state of Sarawak, you will be met by the Local Guide or National Escort and enjoy a welcome dinner before two full days discovering the city's cultural mix. Explore Chinatown's traditional merchant houses, take a sampan ride to a quiet Malay village and head out to Bako National Park in search of proboscis monkeys. Travel to Sri Aman to board a traditional Iban longboat along the Lemanak River, meeting an Iban community and witnessing a traditional ceremony and tribal dance. Fly across to Kota Kinabalu for a guided walk through UNESCO-listed Kinabalu National Park, then continue to Sandakan to pay respects at the Sandakan Memorial Park. The journey concludes with two days spotting pygmy elephants, orangutans and hornbills from a jungle eco-lodge on the Kinabatangan River.
